Climb from Golden to Buffalo Bill's Grave (Lariat Loop)
This is the entire route from downtown Golden up to the Grave. Since I don't climb too fast, I sped up sections of the video (4x). There are a couple of sections where we drop back to normal speed, for conversation.
This is my first attempt at this, and it points out some technical details about speeding up video, like a helmet mounted camera is probably a poor idea. Unfortunately, the handlebar mount is really shaky, making it pretty bad as well.
Scenic Byways | Drive on Colorado Highway 103
Mount Evans is the road into the sky. Drive from 8,700 feet at Idaho Spring where you turn off Interstate 70 to 14,240 feet to the summit, and you will pass through 3 life zones, passing ancient trees, lakes and forest to the land above timberline. It can be 90 degrees in Denver and 40 degrees at the top of Mount Evans. - See More at

At the turn of the last century, Colorado Springs and Denver were in a race for the hearts and minds (not to mention dollars) of the eastern tourist. In 1888, the Cascade and Pikes Peak Toll Road Company completed a 16-mile road up the north side of Pikes Peak. This became a major tourist attraction, drawing tourists away from Denver Area. Not to be outdone, Denver's Mayor Peer proposed that a road be constructed to the top of Mount Evans. In 1917, he procured state funds to build the road. It was completed in 1927.
During the summers of 1941 and 1942, Denver Mountain Parks built the Crest House (also known as Summit House). It quickly became a favorite destination of Coloradans and tourists. Containing both a restaurant and a gift shop, one could enjoy superb food and buy Mount Evans souvenirs while enjoying a panoramic view of Denver and the eastern plains. Unfortunately, it burned on September 1, 1979 and was not rebuilt, but the rock foundation and wall remain as an observation platform and a windbreak for mountain travelers.
Peak to Peak Scenic Byway: Nederland, Estes Park Drive
This drive takes you up the Peak to Peak Highway, a scenic byway on the west side of Denver, in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. This road is best driven in the morning, but on this day, it was late in the afternoon when I made my way north to Estes Park. The video starts on the Central City Casino Parkway, then follows Colorado 119, 72, and 7 into Estes Park. Sorry, it gets a little dark at the end.

I made this trip in January 2018. Video shot with a Brinno TLC-200 Pro time-lapse camera mounted on my roof with a homemade magnetic case. I travel with two Brinno cameras - one facing forward, the other in reverse. Sometimes the reverse camera captures better video (fewer raindrops and bugs hit the rear-view lens).

Scenic Drive Through Lookout Mountain Park in Denver Colorado
This was a section of the scenic drive down the mountain from the lookout point. There were some real tight turns in our 30ft motohome but we made it safety to the bottom.

Los Caminos Antiguos is a scenic highway passes thru the San Luis Valley in southern Colorado. It passes thru the Sangre de Cristo Mountain range, viewing the Blanca Peak and Crestone Peak, all higher than14,000 ft.
