Madison Avenue is an avenue in Manhattan in New York City, United States. Since the 1920s, the street's name has been metonymous with the American advertising industry. Therefore, the term Madison Avenue refers specifically to the agencies, and methodology of advertising. Madison Avenue techniques refers, according to William Safire, to the gimmicky, slick use of the communications media to play on emotions.
It passes through Midtown, the Upper East Side (including Carnegie Hill), East Harlem, and Harlem. It is named after and arises from Madison Square, which is itself named after James Madison, the fourth President of the United States.
Role in Advertising Industry
The term Madison Avenue is often used metonymically for advertising, and Madison Avenue became identified with the American advertising industry after the explosive growth in this area in the 1920s.
According to The Emergence of Advertising in America, by the year 1861, there were twenty advertising agencies in New York City; and in 1911, the New York City Association of Advertising Agencies was founded, predating the establishment of the American Association of Advertising Agencies by several years.
Among various depictions in popular culture, the portion of the advertising industry which centers on Madison Avenue serves as a backdrop for the AMC television drama Mad Men, which focuses on industry activities during the 1960s.
In recent decades, many agencies have left Madison Avenue, with some moving further downtown and others moving west. The continued presence of large agencies in the city makes New York the third largest job market per capita in the U.S., in 2016 according to a study by marketing recruitment firm MarketPro. Today, only a few agencies are still located in the old business cluster on Madison Avenue, including StrawberryFrog, TBWA Worldwide and Doyle Dane Bernbach. However, the term is still used to describe the agency business as a whole and large, New York–based agencies in particular.

Koreatown is an ethnic Korean enclave in Midtown Manhattan in New York City, centered on West 32nd Street between Madison Avenue and the intersection of Sixth Avenue and Broadway, which is known as Greeley Square. The neighborhood features over 100 small businesses, including eateries and shops.
Historically, Manhattan's Koreatown has been part of the Garment District. Koreatown is primarily a Korean business district, but the neighborhood has experienced an increase in Korean and European traffic as well, and the resident Korean population in the area has grown concomitantly. There was never a formal plan or agreement to create a Korean commercial district in Manhattan. However, given the high tourist traffic stemming from nearby Midtown Manhattan landmarks like the Empire State Building, Macy's Herald Square, Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, the Garment District, and the Flower District, it was an advantageous location for Korean immigrants to settle.
Initiated by the opening of a Korean bookstore and a handful of restaurants in the 1980s, Koreatown sprang into being. Based upon the success of their predecessors, an additional stream of Korean-owned businesses took root in the neighborhood, coinciding with increased immigration from Korea; and with rising demand for the prime location, overall property values in the area increased as well.
The heart of Koreatown is the segment of West 32nd Street between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue, officially nicknamed Korea Way. Korea Way features stores and restaurants on multiple stories, with independently run establishments reaching up to higher floors, exuding an ambience of Seoul itself. The New York City Korean Chamber of Commerce estimates there to be more than 100 small businesses on Korea Way. Signage in Hangul (한글) is ubiquitous. Koreatown's central location and high density of crowded restaurants, bars, karaoke clubs, and spas on Korea Way have rendered it a major tourist attraction and a center of nightlife in Manhattan.
Korea Way features numerous restaurants that serve both traditional and/or regional Korean cuisine and Korean fusion fare (including Korean Chinese cuisine), several bakeries, grocery stores, supermarkets, bookstores, consumer electronics outlets, video rental shops, tchotchke and stationery shops, hair and nail salons, noraebang singing bars, nightclubs, as well as cell phone service providers, internet cafés, doctors' offices, attorney offices, banks, and hotels. Approximately fifteen 24/7 restaurants conduct business on Korea Way. Numerous Japanese restaurants have also emerged in Manhattan's Koreatown. Although Korea Way continues to represent the heart of Koreatown, situated between Broadway, Sixth Avenue, and Fifth Avenue, Koreatown itself as of 2015 has been expanding further eastward from Fifth Avenue along East 32nd Street, toward Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

Park Avenue is a wide New York City boulevard[4] which carries north and southbound traffic in the borough of Manhattan, and is also a wide one-way pair in the Bronx. For most of the road's length in Manhattan, it runs parallel to Madison Avenue to the west and Lexington Avenue to the east. Park Avenue's entire length was formerly called Fourth Avenue; the title still applies below 14th Street.[5] Meanwhile, the section between 14th and 17th Street is called Union Square East, and between 17th and 32nd Streets, the name Park Avenue South is used. In the Bronx, Park Avenue runs in several segments between the Major Deegan Expressway and Fordham Road.[6]
Route
The road that becomes Park Avenue originates as the Bowery. From Cooper Square at 8th Street to Union Square at 14th Street, it is known as Fourth Avenue, a 70-foot-wide (21 m) road carrying northbound traffic. At 14th Street, it turns slightly northeast to align with other avenues drawn up in the Commissioners' Plan of 1811. From 14th Street to 17th Street, it forms the eastern boundary of Union Square and is known as Union Square East; its southbound lanes merge with Broadway south of 15th Street, and the thoroughfare divides into two distinct portions in the one-block section between 14th and 15th Streets. From 17th Street to 32nd Street, it is known as Park Avenue South. Above 32nd Street, for the remainder of its distance, it is known as Park Avenue, a 140-foot-wide boulevard.

Columbia University (Columbia; officially Columbia University in the City of New York), established in 1754, is a private Ivy League research university in Upper Manhattan, New York City. Columbia contains the oldest college in the state of New York and is the fifth chartered institution of higher learning in the United States, making it one of nine colonial colleges founded prior to the Declaration of Independence. Midtown has a tremendous density of places, people, attractions and landmarks which await your discovery and the best way to experience it of course is on foot. You'll never run out of interesting sites. And while you're strolling along, enamored by the famous avenues, don't just walk past the side streets. They have got some fascinating things to check out such as West 46th Street, packed with restaurants, bars and stores. You'll get souvenirs cheaper than at Times Square.
Fifth Avenue's commercial heartland is one of the world's great urban vistas, always packed with pedestrians and lined with exclusive department stores and boutiques, too numerous to fully mention.
Continuing back down Fifth we turn on 42nd Street, to reach Grand Central Terminal, one of the great railway stations of the world and perhaps New York's most famous interior space.
We are plunging into a very worthwhile twenty blocks which can be nicely enjoyed along Madison Avenue with serious window-shopping, people watching and looking up at the buildings peaks. The shops and sights along the way will keep you thoroughly entertained.
You've heard about the New York minute? It's like a split second in which a lot of things get done. New York is quick. In fact, when you're walking, be sure not to take up the entire sidewalk because you're going to be blocking some speeding New Yorker coming up behind you.
We reach the Upper Eastside, with that rarefied atmosphere of the blueblood territory. The multimillion mansions and the nice side streets. Be sure to have a look as you walk along Madison and the other avenues down the side streets and see where the superrich live.
Lexington is one of the most interesting of New York avenues. It still retains a lot of its earlier character and quality, not quite so yuppiefied and gentrified as the other avenues that we been walking on, all of what you been lovely, but Lexington is especially nitty-gritty and a fine place to end our walking tour of New York's grand avenues.

Formerly Longacre Square, Times Square was renamed in 1904 after The New York Times moved its headquarters to the newly erected Times Building, the site of the annual ball drop which began on December 31, 1907, and continues today, attracting over a million visitors to Times Square every New Year's Eve.[13]
Times Square is not a square in the geometric sense of a polygon, but is more of a bowtie shape, or two triangles emanating roughly north and south from 45th Street.[14] Duffy Square, the northernmost of Times Square's triangles, was dedicated in 1937 to Chaplain Francis P. Duffy of New York City's U.S. 69th Infantry Regiment and is the site of a memorial to him, along with a statue of George M. Cohan.
