We are the 5 Boroughs
in NY State
And we make up New York City
Yeah, our core Manhattan is great
We are the 5 Boroughs
And we’ve got lots to say
Located on the East Coast
in the great US of A
Hello I am Manhattan
The most densely populated Borough see
Of New York City
And coextensive with New York County
I’m surrounded by the Hudson River bordering New Jersey to my West
And the East and Harlem River
with the Upper Bay to my south I attest
I host Central Park, The Statue of Liberty
And the Empire States Building
As well as Rockefeller Center,
Times Square and High Line if that’s your thing!
My names Brooklyn I’m to the Southeast of Manhattan And attached to Queens
And the most populous of the 5 Borough’s
visit me and fulfill your dreams
I touch the North Atlantic Ocean
Also Lower, Upper and Jamaica Bay
The Brooklyn Bridge connects me to Manhattan over the East River all day
Coney Island’s a classic attraction
of mine, you could see
Or Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch
is something you may have seen in a movie
Queens, here I’m North of and attached to Brooklyn as shown here
To the North and West, the Bronx and Manhattan are across the East River real near
I also touch the North Atlantic Ocean
And the Jamaica Bay
Come to see the Queensboro Bridge, Citi Field, and my famous Unisphere and play
We are the 5 Boroughs
in NY State
And we make up New York City
Yeah, our core Manhattan is great
We are the 5 Boroughs
And we’ve got lots to say
Located on the East coast
in the great US of A
I’m the Bronx the Northernmost of the 5 Boroughs of NYC
I border to my west across the Hudson River New Jersey
I touch the Hudson, Harlem and East River
And also the Long Island Sound
Visit Yankee Stadium, the Bronx Zoo, And Pelham Bay Park if you’re around
Hi I’m Staten Island the southernmost of New York City's 5 boroughs
connected to Lower Manhattan via the Staten Island Ferry you know
I touch the Upper, Lower And Raritan Bay
And the Arthur Kill

New York's New High Line Park | TIME
Winter High Line Walk in New York City!
Back to New York City for more snow fun and adventure! But this time, the whole city is covered with snow! Just wow! I woke up to seeing snow for the first time in Bogota, New Jersey....but now it was time to experience snow outdoors in the Big Apple with my family. Here's a footage of our long walk in the city's famous High Line walk, which is a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan's West Side. It was soooo cold out there but that did not bother me at all. Seeing, feeling, and walking on snow was a dream come true after sooo many years of waiting. It was living my dream and I couldn't be much happier. And I experienced it with my beloved family. It was our first snow experience ever....an addition to many of our firsts experience as we continue to explore the world together. Yeah! :) - New York City, New York USA Dec. 30, 2017

From Wikipedia:
The High Line (also known as High Line Park) is a 1.45-mile-long (2.33 km) elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail. It was created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. Led by landscape architecture firm James Corner Field Operations, the abandoned railway has been redesigned as a living system that draws from multiple disciplines including landscape architecture, urban design, and ecology. Since opening in 2009, the High Line has become an icon in contemporary landscape architecture.
The park is built on the disused southern viaduct section of a New York Central Railroad line called the West Side Line. Originating in the Lower West Side of Manhattan, the park runs from Gansevoort Street – three blocks below 14th Street – in the Meatpacking District, through Chelsea, to the northern edge of the West Side Yard on 34th Street near the Javits Center. Formerly, the West Side Line went as far south as a railroad terminal at Spring Street, just north of Canal Street. However, most of the southern section was demolished in 1960, with another small portion being demolished in 1991.

Starting Point: Park Avenue .
The City of New York, often called New York City or simply New York, is the most populous city in the United States. With an estimated 2017 population of 8,622,698 distributed over a land area of about 302.6 square miles (784 km2), New York City is also the most densely populated major city in the United States. Located at the southern tip of the state of New York, the city is the center of the New York metropolitan area, one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world, with an estimated 20.3 million people in its 2017 Metropolitan Statistical Area and 23.7 million residents in its Combined Statistical Area. A global power city, New York City has been described as the cultural, financial, and media capital of the world, and exerts a significant impact upon commerce, entertainment, research, technology, education, politics, tourism, and sports. The city's fast pace defines the term New York minute. Home to the headquarters of the United Nations, New York is an important center for international diplomacy.
Situated on one of the world's largest natural harbors, New York City consists of five boroughs, each of which is a separate county of the State of New York. The five boroughs – Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, The Bronx, and Staten Island – were consolidated into a single city in 1898. The city and its metropolitan area constitute the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. As many as 800 languages are spoken in New York, making it the most linguistically diverse city in the world. New York City is home to more than 3.2 million residents born outside the United States, the largest foreign-born population of any city in the world. In 2013, the tri-state New York Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) produced a gross metropolitan product (GMP) of nearly US$1.4 trillion. If greater New York City were a sovereign state, it would have the 12th highest GDP in the world.
New York City traces its origins to a trading post founded by colonists from the Dutch Republic in 1624 on Lower Manhattan; the post was named New Amsterdam in 1626. The city and its surroundings came under English control in 1664 and were renamed New York after King Charles II of England granted the lands to his brother, the Duke of York. New York served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790. It has been the country's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to the Americas by ship in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is a world symbol of the United States and its ideals of liberty and peace. In the 21st century, New York has emerged as a global node of creativity and entrepreneurship, social tolerance, and environmental sustainability, and as a symbol of freedom and cultural diversity.
Many districts and landmarks in New York City are well known, and the city received a record 61 million tourists in 2016, hosting three of the world's ten most visited tourist attractions in 2013. Several sources have ranked New York the most photographed city in the world. Times Square, iconic as the world's heart and its Crossroads, is the brightly illuminated hub of the Broadway Theater District, one of the world's busiest pedestrian intersections, and a major center of the world's entertainment industry. The names of many of the city's bridges, skyscrapers, and parks are known around the world. Anchored by Wall Street in the Financial District of Lower Manhattan, New York City has been called both the most economically powerful city and the leading financial center of the world, and the city is home to the world's two largest stock exchanges by total market capitalization, the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ. Manhattan's real estate market is among the most expensive in the world. Manhattan's Chinatown incorporates the highest concentration of Chinese people in the Western Hemisphere, with multiple signature Chinatowns developing across the city. Providing continuous 24/7 service, the New York City Subway is one of the most extensive metro systems worldwide, with 472 stations in operation. Over 120 colleges and universities are located in New York City, including Columbia University, New York University, and Rockefeller University, which have been ranked among the top universities in the world.

The cards were stacked against us. Neighbourhood property owners wanted the High Line torn down. The previous mayor wanted that too. His team said 'it has no right to be there; it's the Vietnam of old railroad trestles, it has to come down'. We looked at it differently. Couldn't it become a truly extraordinary public place that embodies all the creativity, innovation and dreams that make this city great?

STORYLINE:
An abandoned elevated rail line in New York City is reopening this week as a landscaped public park, dubbed The High Line.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg on Monday helped unveil the first half-mile section of the High Line park, a transformed rail line sitting three stories above the city's streets that was abandoned nearly 30 years ago.
The park is scheduled to open to the public Tuesday.
The High Line stretches 1.5 miles (2.4 kilometres) with views of the city and the Hudson river, including landmarks like the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.
The rail line stands as high as 30 feet (9 metres), and is 60 feet (18 metres) wide in some places.
The New York rail line was built in the 1930s for freight trains carrying dairy products, produce and meats to
warehouses and factories in the area.
The goal was to avoid the increasingly crowded street level, which had become so treacherous for pedestrians that 10th Avenue was nicknamed Death Avenue.
The last train ran on the High Line in 1980 and for many years, community groups and parks advocates sought to have it made over into a public space while some neighbourhood residents wanted it torn down.
It was nearly destroyed in 2001, but a judge blocked those plans after community advocates and the City Council sued.
The campaign attracted celebrity advocates who helped raise money and advance the cause; several, including designer Diane Von Furstenberg and chef Mario Batali, attended the ceremony on Monday.
Construction on the project began in 2006, and the first section will open on Tuesday. The second part is expected to open next year.
The total cost is 152 (m) million US dollars, funded in part by private donations, as well as the city, state and federal government.
The park is a mix of concrete and green landscaping, with features like a wading pool and trees in some areas.
Designers incorporated the train tracks into some of the landscaping, as well as preserving many of the wildflowers and other plants that have grown there for years.
Authorities in the French capital, Paris recently converted a rail viaduct into an elevated park called the Promenade Plantee, but officials say the High Line park is the first of its kind in the United States.

In this video I take a boat trip from Battery Park in Manhattan across to Liberty Island to see the world famous State Of Liberty. This incredible monument was constructed in France and was presented as a gift to the United States Of America in 1886.
Statue Cruises are the official tour operator that provide boat trips to both Liberty and Ellis Island from 2 different pick up locations. Along with taking in the fantastic views of New York City, I share the complete experience of travelling across to the island including a full tour of the various different shops and facilities. I also head up to the Crown of the Statue Of Liberty for a unique look inside this incredible structure!

New York City Travel Guide - Welcome to New York
New York City Travel Guide - Welcome to New York
New York City is the most populous city in the United States. It lies at the mouth of the Hudson River in the southernmost part of the state, which is part of the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. New York City is a center for media, culture, food, fashion, art, research, finance, and trade. It has one of the largest and most famous skylines on earth, dominated by the iconic Empire State Building.
New York City consists of five boroughs, which are five separate counties. Each borough has a unique culture and could be a large city in its own right. Within each borough individual neighborhoods, some several square miles in size, and others only a few blocks in size, have personalities lauded in music and film. Where you live, work, and play in New York says something to New Yorkers about who you are. The five New York boroughs are:
Manhattan: The famous island between the Hudson and East Rivers, with many diverse and unique neighborhoods. Manhattan is home to the Empire State Building in Midtown, Central Park, Times Square, Wall Street, Harlem, and the trendy neighborhoods of Greenwich Village and SoHo.
Brooklyn: The most populous borough, and formerly a separate city. Located south and east of Manhattan across the East River. Known for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Prospect Park, The Brooklyn Museum, The New York Aquarium and a key NYC landmark Coney Island.
Queens: Located to the east of Manhattan, across the East River, and north, east, and south of Brooklyn. With over 170 languages spoken, Queens is the most ethnically diverse region in the United States, and one of the most diverse in the world.
Bronx: Located north of Manhattan Island, the Bronx is home to the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the New York Yankees professional baseball team.
Staten Island: A large island in New York Harbor, south of Manhattan and just across the narrow Kill Van Kull from New Jersey. Unlike the rest of New York City, Staten Island has a suburban character. It is known as the borough of parks. It has its own baseball team, several malls, and a zoo.
