48 Hours In Dutchess County, New York State Road Trip, USA

Our USA vacation and we are exploring New York State.
For the first time, we headed out of New York City and followed the Hudson River up to Dutchess County, New York.
We drove from JFK to Dutchess county which was a simple one and half to two hour drive north. Although it was cloudy it stayed dry and we missed the intense heat which affected the US open tennis a few days before our visit.
Our first stop was at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome which was holding their weekly airshow before we headed off to try some bourbon.
Dutchess County has some good wine and we did visit a couple of the vineyards - Millbrook vineyard and Clinton vineyard. As well as good wine the food was pretty good too.
There is a lot of US history around the Hudson Valley and in Dutchess County, it was the home of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. We visited Staatsburgh State Historic Site and the Mills mansion, which was the Gilded Age country home of Ogden Mills and Ruth Livingston Mills.
We stayed in the Red Hook Country Inn and the historic Old Rhinebeck Inn which are both very different to the bland corporate style hotels.
We spent 48 hours in Dutchess County and only had a brief taste of what there is to do in the county but there is far more to see and do. It is definitely worth a trip out of New York, just follow that river north.

Taste the Wine in Finger Lakes Wine Country, New York
Finger Lakes Wine Country, New York is home more than 100 wineries centered around Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga, and Canandaigua Lakes. In addition, many of the wineries are also members of their respective wine trails which host year-round wine and food event weekend events.
The Finger Lakes is a world-class wine producing region that specializes in aromatic white varieties like Riesling and Gewurztraminer. --incalculable jaw drops at the beauty seen from along the ocean coastline to the snowy mountain ranges and backdoor views of towns and cities.
I can't recommend this enough! What an experience! What a way to see the country! The whole ride was smooth, quiet, and tranquil. Whether you enjoy a book in the glass-domed car while sipping on some coffee, or nurse a beer through the passing majesty outside your window, you are rocked gently into a relaxation that is unlike any other. The staff was ever ready to accommodate needs and/or wants. Guest speakers rode along, regaling passengers with tales of the flora, fauna, and history of the areas. Fellow passengers were in equal states of awe and wonder, evidenced by the acknowledging head tilts complete with twinkling eyes and hearty grins. Childhood fancy was stirred together with an aged appreciation and I found that though we were moving northward, time had stood still.
Note: Yes...I have since learned to refrain from filming in portrait mode, when using a phone. ????
Note: Thank you, all, who have clarified that it's a Lounge Car featured in this video, not an actual Parlour Car. I did not intend to mislead anyone; during our ride, the staff and fellow passengers were calling it the Parlour Car, and I was at fault for following the flock in my understanding. Our train's Parlour Car must have been undergoing maintenance, at the time. I did find, however, the Lounge Car to be quite enjoyable. Nevertheless, I imagine riding with an official Parlour Car would enhance the experience, greatly. Thank you all, for clarifying this, for me and for others.

To be fair, this lunch happened long before Trump ran for president. Back in his apprentice prime days. Also to be fair, my friend took me there, and I didn't paid for this, my friend did.
Had a beautiful lunch there, it was my second time. Was there a few years ago for restaurant week, and it didn't disappoint. Luxury decor makes you feel like a millionaire! I had the veal and main shrimp, my buddy had the skate and waygu beef. The Skate was very well prepared, it is very difficult to prepare properly. The Rustic Barn, is a timber framed post-and-beam barn, built in 1826 with stone from the Eire canal, which has been preserved, yet modernized with bathrooms. This venue provides a space with ambiance that can't be beat, for a unique Barn Wedding. There is a wide staircase leading up to a raised stage with a magnificent cut glass chandelier so that the Bride & Groom can see and be seen, during their ceremony, and they can sit at a sweetheart table or with their bridal party, for dinner overlooking their guests. This is a perfect place to hold a wedding ceremony, have a sit down or family style dinner, and it even converts to a 'night club' for dancing.
The Tasting Room features a floating oak ceiling, a pair of colorful 'blown glass' fronted marble bars, leather sofas, and high top barrel tables, and make a perfect venue for your guests to meet and greet. After a drink or two, they can head to the area that you have chosen for your wedding ceremony, as outlined below.
The Barrel/Production Room, which is visible from the Tasting Room, through a ‘wall of glass’, offers a versatile add on to your venue space. This double height space is picture perfect, with a wall of oak barrels that are back lit with subtle mood lighting, is hung with original art. This space can be used for a ‘winery tour', with tastings from the barrels, or it can be tastefully set up with round, linen draped tables, and white chairs, for a buffet style, or sit down meal, after the wedding ceremony.
The Covered Patio, with addition of a tent, is perfect for an open air wedding ceremony, before heading back into the Tasting & Barrel/Production Rooms for a buffet style, or sit down meal, followed by dancing to a DJ.
The Vineyard Manor House was also built in 1826, with stone from the Eire Canal, and has been restored to its original grandeur. It is decorated in a 'shabby chic' casual, yet elegant décor, with chandaliers, 12' ceilings, and silk swagged drapery on the double hung windows. It is frequently booked for the Bridal Party, to be used for rehersal dinners, and with 3 bedrooms, it offers accommodation for up to 6 people. There is also a ground floor library, which is a perfect space for the Groom, along with his buddies, before they head to the Ceremony venue. The winding staircase offers the perfect 'photo op’ for the Bride, after she prepares herself upstairs in the Bridal Suite, on her way to walk down the aisle with her Bridal Party.
