Bad Saulgau is a town in the district of Sigmaringen, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It is situated 23 km east of Sigmaringen, and 27 km north of Ravensburg between the Danube and Lake Constance. The location was already a Celtic settlement and owes its name to the spring goddess Sulis. The first historical reference to the settlement dates back to 819. In 1239, the town was acknowledged by Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor. It became a possession of the House of Habsburg in 1299, and thus part of the Holy Roman Empire. Neuschwanstein Castle is a 19th-century Romanesque Revival palace on a rugged hill above the village of Hohenschwangau near Füssen in southwest Bavaria, Germany. The palace was commissioned by Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and in honour of Richard Wagner. Ludwig paid for the palace out of his personal fortune and by means of extensive borrowing, rather than Bavarian public funds. The castle was intended as a home for the king, until he died in 1886. It was open to the public shortly after his death. Since then more than 61 million people have visited Neuschwanstein Castle. More than 1.3 million people visit annually, with as many as 6,000 per day in the summer.

Wir starten zum Rundgang durch den kleinen Ort Steinhausen am Parkplatz, welcher gleich am Ortseingang beim Feuerwehrhaus liegt. Wir gehen die Dorfstrasse entlang bis zur Wallfahrtskirche und gehen einmal um sie herum. Dann geht es wieder zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.

Steinhausen is a small village and part of the city Bad Schussenried in the south of Germany. It is well-known for its famous pilgrim church.

Wir starten unseren Rundgang durch Altshausen in Oberschwaben vor dem Schloß. Anschließend gehen wir in den Schloßgarten und drehen eine große Runde, bevor wir es wieder verlassen. Wir gehen zunächst durch die Hindenburgstraße und dann in die Herzog Albrecht Allee bis zur Bismarckstraße. Dann gehen wir wieder zurück bis zum Schloß und dann durch die Ebersbacher Straße bis zur Beethovenstrasse. Dort befindet sich ein sehr großer Parkplatz mit WC.

GERMANY: The Hegau - volcanic landscape [HD]

The Hegau is a formerly volcanic landscape in southern Germany extending around the industrial city of Singen, between Lake Constance in the east, the Rhine River in the south, the Danube River in the north and the Randen in the west.

The most famous sight of the Hegau is the Hohentwiel, an extinct volcano that lies in the city of Singen. On top of the mountain lies Hohentwiel fortress. The castle that once stood there was destroyed by French troops during the Napoleonic Wars.

The Hohentwiel is the southernmost of a row of volcanic stubs in the Hegau, including the Hohenkrähen, the Hohenstoffeln, and the Hohenhewen.
