Filderstadt is a town in the district of Esslingen in Baden-Württemberg in southern Germany. It is located approximately 13 km south of Stuttgart. Filderstadt is located next to the Stuttgart Airport and the new Trade Fair. Line S2 of the Stuttgart S-Bahn terminates at Filderstadt station. Filderstadt was created as a town in 1975 from five smaller villages called Bernhausen, Bonlanden, Plattenhardt, Sielmingen and Harthausen. From 1978-2005, it played host to the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix, a WTA Tier II event. Princess Claire of Luxembourg was born here on March 21, 1985. 1. Ulmer Münster Ulm
Ulm Minster is a Lutheran church located in Ulm, State of Baden-Württemberg . Until the eventual completion of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Catalonia, it will remain the tallest church in the world, and the 5th tallest structure built before the 20th century, with a steeple measuring 161.5 metres .Although sometimes referred to as Ulm Cathedral because of its great size, the church is not a cathedral as it has never been the seat of a bishop. Though the towers and all decorative elements are of stone masonry, attracting the attention of visitors, most of the walls, including the façades of the nave and choir, actually consist of visible brick. Tag 28: 1.147 km habe ich geschafft und weiter gehts nach Göppingen in Baden-Württemberg. Ich übernachte heute bei Lena und Ian. Die Zwei wollen bald heiraten und planen dafür etwas ganz Besonderes: Sie wollen eine Jurte selbst bauen.

Kai Pietsch ist 23 Jahre alt und macht bei der Stuttgarter Flugschule FFH seinen Flugschein. Wir sind bei einer Flugstunde hinten eingestiegen und mit Kai Pietsch und seinem Fluglehrer zum Bodensee geflogen. So schön ist Baden-Württemberg von oben.

Die Unterkunft

Hier bieten wir Ihnen ein Zimmer, gleich in der Nähe der Universität Hohenheim, direkt am Botanischen Garten. Sie teilen sich die Dusche/Wc sowie die Küche mit den Gastgebern. Auch das Wohnzimmer mit TV (als TV-Aufenthaltsraum) ist gemeinsam. Grosser gemeinsamer Balkon ist vorhanden. Internet gegen Gebühr ist machbar. Auch kann gegen Gebühr eine Waschmaschine benützt werden.

Die Gastgeber serviert auf Wunsch auch ein Frühstück gegen Obolus. Wir empfehlen Ihnen hier einmal sogar original chinesisch zu frühstücken :-)

So lebt es sich in Plieningen: Zwischen Flughafen und Feldern. Der südlichste Stadtbezirk Stuttgarts besticht durch seine äußerst gute infrastrukturelle Lage und die vielseitigen und tollen Angebote im Jugendbereich. Wer hier wohnt, hat hinter dem Haus Feld und vor dem Haus die neue Landesmesse.

Plieningen ist angebunden an die B27 (Stuttgart-Tübingen) und die A8 (Karlsruhe-München), in kurzer Zeit erreicht man sowohl mit dem Auto als auch mit den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln die Messe auf den Fildern und den Flughafen. Allerdings sollte erwähnt sein, dass durch den nahen Flughafen und die Autobahn ein höherer Lärmpegel besteht, als in den etwas abgeschiedeneren Orten. Neben der Stadtbahn U3, deren Endhaltestelle am Rande von Plieningen ist, fahren hier hauptsächlich Busse mit deren Hilfe man allerdings auch geschickt zum Ziel kommt.

Der Stadtbezirk ist darüber hinaus auch in Sachen Lebensmittel, Gebrauchsgegenstände und Dienstleistungen fast ein Selbstversorger. Man findet hier Bäckereien, die selbst sonntags geöffnet haben, Fahrschulen, Reisebüros, Optiker, Friseure, Drogerie- und Baumärkte. Kurz gesagt: Plieningen ist eine gute Wahl für diejenigen, die als Gast in einer Großstadt in einem Stadtteil mit Vorortcharakter leben möchten.

Accessible Cubittt room at the Great Northern Hotel, Kings

With an early eurostar departure the following morning and a newly refurbished famous railway hotel just across the road from check in, what was I meant to do? Naturally I splashed out on a room at the Great Northern Hotel, as which was technically still in its soft opening phase. I hadn't intended to take a so called accessible room, but the friendly receptionist said that it was larger than the usual Cubitt rooms, already the largest of the three classes of accomodation available in the establishment, to provide more space for my German Shepherd guide dog Vance. All I can say is I pity anybody paying a similar rate for the non accessible rooms!
