  • 2. Bible Tower Thrissur
    The Bible Tower is situated in Thrissur city of Kerala, India. It was inaugurated on 7 January 2007. The tower is the tallest church tower in India and Asia. It is also the tallest structure in whole of Kerala. The 79 metre tower stands behind two towers of 42.5 metres height. The building has been certified as earthquake-proof by officials of the Geology Department of India. The red cross on the top of the Bible Tower is lit to show the presence of the Roman Catholic Church in Thrissur. It can be seen from anywhere in the Thrissur city.     Pazhassi Raja was born as Kerala Varma and was also known as Cotiote Rajah and Pychy Rajah. He was one of the earliest freedom fighters in India. He was a warrior prince and de facto head of the kingdom of Kottayam, otherwise known as Cotiote, in Malabar, India, between 1774 and 1805. His struggles with the British East India Company is known as the Cotiote War. He is popularly known as Kerala Simham on account of his martial exploits. He was the only person to defeat Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington in a war. Pazhassi Raja was a member of the western branch of the Kottayam royal clan. When Hyder Ali of the Kingdom of Mysore occupied Malabar in 1773, the Raja of Kottayam found political asylum in Travancore.
