Both the original Casino Windsor and the new expansion were designed by WZMH Architects. The casino is located on Windsor's riverfront overlooking the Detroit skyline near the Canadian end of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. Opened in 1920 as the Vaudeville Theatre by Marcus Loew at a cost of approximately $600,000, and designed by Thomas White Lamb, it was the largest single floor theatre in Canada at the time, with 1,995 seats. In 1922, it assumed its current name, as the Capitol Theatre. The theatre was one of sixteen Canadian theatres Lamb designed, including Toronto's Pantages , The Elgin and Winter Garden Theatres, and the Ottawa Capitol.

    Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia was co-founded in 1972 in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, by the late Evelyn Garbary, Tom Miller, and Sara Lee Lewis who continues to serve as Managing Director. The Theatre moved to Windsor, Nova Scotia in 1987, purchasing a large commercial building in the town’s center, which now houses its workshops, administration, rehearsal and performance facilities.
