1. Rockwood Conservation Area Rockwood
The Rockwood Conservation Area, also known as Rockwood Park, is a moderate sized conservation area situated in Rockwood, Ontario, Canada. Public operations run between May 1 and the first Sunday following Thanksgiving. A small admittance fee is required to access the park, but individuals or groups may purchase a membership that allows access to the eleven parks operated by the Grand River Conservation Authority. It is a popular destination for many local residents, with over 65,000 patrons visiting every year to enjoy the geological attractions of the park, as well as the historic ruins of the Rockwood Woolen Mills.

The Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck was a Canadian jet interceptor/fighter serving during the Cold War both in NATO bases in Europe and as part of NORAD. The CF-100 was the only Canadian-designed fighter to enter mass production, serving primarily with the Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Armed Forces and also in small numbers in Belgium. For its day, the CF-100 featured a short takeoff run and high climb rate, making it well suited to its role as an interceptor.

Beautiful Rockwood Ontario Summer 2012

Would definitely recommend visiting and camping here. Amazing view, lots of trails and boating. Definitely a cost effective vacation, one of the best places I've been camping in the area.

Rockwood Park Campground is far enough away from the city, but only five minutes away from nearest the supermarket and countless things to do.

We were KICKED OUT our first time boondocking!

We ventured out with some friends to give boondocking a shot and were kicked out! It all worked out and thankfully we just had to change locations. We decided to head to American Girl Mine for the rest of the week and had a great time. We were surprised we made it 14 days out there without needing to dump (and only had to refill water slightly). We are definitely starting to research a good battery setup because we want to get out and boondock for longer periods of time and be more comfortable. Excited to share this learning process with all of you in our Getaway Gang as we continue to figure it all out :)
