Georgian Bay is a large bay of Lake Huron, located entirely within Ontario, Canada. The main body of the bay lies east of the Bruce Peninsula and Manitoulin Island. To its northwest is the North Channel. Georgian Bay is surrounded by the districts of Manitoulin, Sudbury, Parry Sound and Muskoka, as well as the more populous counties of Simcoe, Grey and Bruce. The Bruce Peninsula contains part of the geological formation known as the Niagara Escarpment. 2. Bridal Veil Falls Kagawong
Bridal Veil Falls is a waterfall near the town of Kagawong on Lake Huron's Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. The water source is the Kagawong River which flows from Lake Kagawong to the North Channel of Lake Huron. It has a height of approximately 35 feet . There is a short hiking trail from the falls down to the North Channel. There are two parking lots and two approaches to the falls: one from the top of the outdoor steel staircase next to the falls, and another from a few hundred yards down the trail, past some of the rapids. Flowerpot Island is an island in Georgian Bay, in the Canadian province of Ontario and is a part of Fathom Five National Marine Park. The island spans 2.1 kilometres from east to west, and 1.5 kilometres from north to south, and has a total area of 2 square kilometres . The name of the island comes from two rock pillars on its eastern shore, which look like flower pots. A third flowerpot once stood, but tumbled in 1903.Flowerpot Island is a popular tourist destination, with camping facilities and hiking trails. Awenda Provincial Park is a provincial park in Tiny Township, Ontario, Canada, located on a peninsula jutting into Georgian Bay north of Penetanguishene. The park occupies an area of 29.15 square kilometres . It is classified as a Natural Environment Park and therefore all land is protected. Giants Tomb Island, located in southern Georgian Bay approximately 3 km from the mainland is also owned by the park. Recreational activities at Awenda include, camping, swimming, canoeing and hiking. 5 Things to do in Tobermory, Ontario (Grotto, Flowerpot Island & Scuba Diving)

These are my carefully selected 5 things to do, what to eat and survival tips for Tobermory, Ontario. Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula are gorgeous destinations in Canada and offer some of the clearest water in the world, with places like the Grotto, Indian Head Cove and Flowerpot Island. For many years I've heard rumors of a paradise north of Toronto, so last weekend I decided to go check it out. Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula are gorgeous destinations in Canada and offer some of the clearest water in the world with visibility that easily reaches depths up to 25 meters.

The 4-hour drive can be a bit steep but luckily it is a comfortable drive with many valley's and towns on the way to keep you inspired. Crucial things to consider are: bring enough gas (there are not many gas stations on the peninsula), bring swim-gear/scuba gear & bring crocks.

Best fish & chips in Canada.

3. Flowerpot Island
Raw nature at its finest, you may find snakes & large spiders on this island.

4. The Grotto
The gem on the peninsula with a hidden underwater tunnel.

5. Indian Head Cove
Gorgeous rough coastline and popular tourist attraction.

The 5 best kept secrets in Tobermory that I listed are not in chronological order but I do consider the shipwreck diving as a definite hightlight! But I'd like to remind you that advanced swimming skills are required.

At Flowerpot Island we ran into many clean-cut shaped rocks, now I have a small obsession with archeology and especially with the Yonaguni monument which some consider a man-made structure and lies deep in the east china sea off the coast of Taiwan. It is estimated to be more than 10,000 years old making it the oldest man-made structure in the world if the theory holds true, but after seeing these clean-cut slabs I start to think that Yonaguni may actually be a natural phenomenon, if you are interested,watch the documentary by Graham Hancock.

With Yonaguni being a little off topic, I do like to stress my fellow Canadians to at least make this trip once in your lifetime to really get an idea of what the province of Ontario has to offer.

Todays trip was to Tobermory, Ontario, Canada. Its at the northern tip where Georgian bay becomes lake Huron. If you have a chance to visit, I highly recommend it. Just 6.5 kilometers off the coast of Tobermory lies Flowerpot Island, one of Canada’s most fascinating natural attractions. Flowerpot Island is famous for its natural sea stacks, the “flowerpots”, as well as its caves, historic lightstation and variety of rare plants.

The Grotto and Overhanging Point:
The Niagara Escarpment runs from Niagara Falls to Tobermory. It forms the backbone of the Peninsula and shapes the northern boundary of most of the park, providing the park with some of its most spectacular scenery.

We drove to Cyprus lake campground and hiked in from there.
