  • 1. Bala's Museum with Memories of Lucy Maud Montgomery Bala
    Bala's Museum, officially with the sub-name With Memories Of Lucy Maud Montgomery, is a museum located in Bala, Ontario, Canada. It is owned and operated by Jack Hutton and Linda Jackson-Hutton.The museum was formerly a boarding house operated by Fanny Pike at the beginnings of the 1900s and now houses artifacts from the Muskoka region from its founding by Thomas Burgess as well as those pertaining to Lucy Maud Montgomery, the author of the Anne of Green Gables series and The Blue Castle. It is the only museum of its kind outside of Prince Edward Island to do so. It sees visitors from around the world regularly, especially for the annual Anne of Green Gables Day, with re-enactments of Montgomery's two-week visit to the region in 1922.

    Muskoka Lakes Museum is an independent non-profit community museum, focusing on the history of the Muskoka Lakes. It is located in the village of Port Carling in the Township of Muskoka Lakes, District of Muskoka, in Ontario, Canada. The museum features six different galleries with exhibits about First Nations and area pioneer history, the history and culture of boating in the Muskoka Lakes region, cottages and resorts, and a gallery for local art exhibits. Though there are artifacts from as early as 8000 B.C.E. on display, the main focus of the museum is between the mid-1800s and mid-1900s.   • 4. Woodchester Villa Bracebridge
    Woodchester Villa, as known as The Bird House, is an historic octagon house located at 15 King Street overlooking the Muskoka River in Bracebridge, Ontario. It was built in 1882 and was the home of woolen manufacturer Henry J. Bird. Its walls alternate between 4.5 metres and 5 metres in width. In 1977 the Bracebridge Rotary Club took steps to preserve the property by buying it from the descendants of Henry J. Bird. After restoring the building, it was turned over to the Town of Bracebridge on March 13, 1980. On June 22, 1980, it was opened as a local history museum.It is protected by an Ontario Heritage Trust heritage conservation easement and is subject to a municipal heritage designation by the Town of Bracebridge.
