The population of Clarkston was 7,229 in 2010 census.Walla Walla Community College opened a branch campus in Clarkston that serves the surrounding area. 1. Dow Gardens Midland Michigan
Dow Gardens is a 110-acre botanical garden located at 1809 Eastman Avenue, Midland, Michigan, United States. It is open to the public, and currently contains over 1700 varieties of plants hardy in mid-Michigan. The main entrance has geographical coordinates of 43.623378°N 84.249612°W / 43.623378; -84.249612. The Dow Gardens were started in 1899 by Herbert Dow, founder of The Dow Chemical Company, and gardener Elzie Côte, on eight acres of flat, sandy land. The Herbert H. Dow House is located at the southwest corner of the gardens. The Alden Dow House and Studio are on the west side of the gardens, separated by a pond. Subsequent generations of the Dow family have continued to develop the gardens.

Kamiak Butte County Park is located in Whitman County, Washington between the towns of Palouse and Pullman in Eastern Washington, near the border of Idaho. It is named after Chief Kamiakin of the Yakama tribe. Most of the park's 298 acres consist of timberland on the northern slopes of Kamiak Butte. The mountain itself is an island, consisting of Precambrian quartzite projecting approximately 1,000 feet above the surrounding wheat fields. The reddish rocks once formed the bed of an ancient sea, and the grains of sand embedded in them can still be seen glittering in the sun. Later in its geological history, Kamiak Butte became part of a mountain range which was eventually nearly engulfed by the Cenozoic lava flows that covered most of Eastern Washington in a layer of basalt. Hells Gate State Park is a public recreation area located on the southern edge of Lewiston, Idaho, at the Snake River's downstream entrance to Hells Canyon, the deepest canyon in North America. The state park was created by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to mitigate the construction of the Lower Granite Dam; the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation began leasing the site in 1973. The park's 960 acres offer trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding as well as opportunities for camping, picnicking, fishing, boating, swimming, and taking jet boat trips into the canyon. The park sits at the lowest elevation of any Idaho state park, at 733 feet above sea level.

Chief Timothy Park in Clarkston Washington offers 66 full to primitive camping sites on a 282-acre island on Lower Granite Lake in the Snake River. The park is known as the gateway to Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, the deepest river gorge in North America and an area of striking scenery, abundant cultural history and outdoor adventure.

Accessed via a causeway from US 12 (Lewis and Clark Scenic Highway) the park has paved roads and paved parking pads (for RVs). Tent sites and cabins are located in a mowed and watered grassy area. Guests have access to fresh water fishing, boating, kayaking, hiking and a scenic setting to enjoy all the views.

The park is home to a monument to Lewis and Clark and the Native People that helped their journey and the establishment of the Western Frontier.

Full hookup sites are available on the primary leg along the water front. A swim beach and playground are available. Restrooms with hot showers are located throughout the property.

Hells Gate State Park in Idaho is a fun place to escape the daily grind. The park is heavy into fishing, hunting, and RV people with some traditional camping. It’s located a few miles south of Lewiston and well worth the visit. If nothing else, you can take a ride into the deepest canyon in North America. That’s right, it’s not the Grand Canyon. Hell’s Canyon in Idaho has the record for the deepest canyon.
