Liberty Lake is an incorporated city in Spokane County, Washington, United States, on the Idaho state line. Liberty Lake is a suburb of Spokane, Washington, as well as a bedroom community to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The population was 7,591 at the 2010 census. The city is located about 1,000 feet north of its namesake lake. Liberty Lake was named after an Etienne Edward Laliberte, later he changed his name to Steve Liberty, a pioneer who settled near the lake.

The copper statue, a gift from the people of France to the people of the United States, was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi and built by Gustave Eiffel. The statue was dedicated on October 28, 1886. The Statue of Liberty is a figure of a robed woman representing Libertas, a Roman liberty goddess.
