Novalesa is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 60 km west of Turin, on the border with France. Novalesa borders the following municipalities: Bessans , Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis , Mompantero, Moncenisio, Usseglio, and Venaus. Near the village is Novalesa Abbey, an Benedictine monastery founded in 726. Acting in effect as a forward position for the Franks near their border with the territory of the Lombards, the abbey was strategically placed to control the Via Francigena. The abbey, which for much of its history came under Benedictine rule, is now entrusted to the Rosminians. A special regional law acknowledges it as the Symbolic monument of the Piedmont region. Pila is an Alpine ski-resort in the Aosta Valley region of northern Italy. It is a frazione of the comune of Gressan. There are more than 24 pistes , including 4 blue runs, 29 red runs and 4 black runs, with a pipe zone and a slopestyle zone. There is one cable car, 3 gondolas, 8 chairlifts and 5 conveyors. The resort itself is at 1,814 metres altitude, while the highest skiing can be done at 2,700m.The nearest city to Pila is Aosta, to which it is connected by road and also a cable car system.

nach 3 herrlichen Tagen in Susa gehe ich wieder auf die Strecke weiter nach Frankreich
dazu muss ich über den Pass Mont Cenis (2081m, peak 2088), wieder mit Gepäck.
in Fourneaux habe ich ein Zimmer für die kommende Nacht.
