Novalesa is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 60 km west of Turin, on the border with France. Novalesa borders the following municipalities: Bessans , Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis , Mompantero, Moncenisio, Usseglio, and Venaus. Near the village is Novalesa Abbey, an Benedictine monastery founded in 726. Acting in effect as a forward position for the Franks near their border with the territory of the Lombards, the abbey was strategically placed to control the Via Francigena. Novalesa Abbey is a Benedictine monastery in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, Italy. It was founded in 726, and dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Andrew.Novalesa is in the Val di Susa, on the route to the Mont Cenis Pass, and on the former Via Francigena, a major pilgrimage road. The abbey is still in operation as an active Benedictine monastery.

2. Sacra di San Michele Sant Ambrogio Di Torino
The Sacra di San Michele, sometimes known as Saint Michael's Abbey, is a religious complex on Mount Pirchiriano, situated on the south side of the Val di Susa in the territory of the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio di Torino, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. The abbey, which for much of its history came under Benedictine rule, is now entrusted to the Rosminians. A special regional law acknowledges it as the Symbolic monument of the Piedmont region. This monumental abbey served as one of the inspirations for the book The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco.

nach 3 herrlichen Tagen in Susa gehe ich wieder auf die Strecke weiter nach Frankreich
dazu muss ich über den Pass Mont Cenis (2081m, peak 2088), wieder mit Gepäck.
in Fourneaux habe ich ein Zimmer für die kommende Nacht.
