Rivalta di Torino is a comune in the Metropolitan City of Turin in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 14 km southwest of Turin in the valley of the Sangone. It is home to a medieval castle, around which the town originated starting from the 11th century. The castle and the village were owned by the Orsini local branch until 1823. The castle has a massive appearance and was once accessed through a drawbridge, now replaced by a stone one. In 1836 French writer Honoré de Balzac was guest of the local lord, count Cesare Benevello, as testified by an inscription in the castle's court.

1. Sacra di San Michele Sant Ambrogio Di Torino
The Sacra di San Michele, sometimes known as Saint Michael's Abbey, is a religious complex on Mount Pirchiriano, situated on the south side of the Val di Susa in the territory of the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio di Torino, in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont region of northwestern Italy. The abbey, which for much of its history came under Benedictine rule, is now entrusted to the Rosminians. A special regional law acknowledges it as the Symbolic monument of the Piedmont region. This monumental abbey served as one of the inspirations for the book The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco.

Worlds Best Drives A8 / A10 France to Italy

This is the road that goes from the Cote D'Azur to The Italian Riviera.

This part of the Mediterranean coast is where the Alps meet the sea.

To create a motorway that runs through this region required one of the greatest engineering feats known.

Starting at Cannes (famous for it's annual film festival), the road slowly rises uphill to gain the altitude required. Once the height has been reached (around about Monaco) the motorway then zooms through the Alps, across massive viaducts that soar hundreds of feet above the valleys below, and when a mountain gets in the way, a hole has been drilled straight through it.

This makes for one of the most spectacular drives anywhere in the world.

Although it is not always obvious on this movie, the road never strays more than a kilometer from the sea.

For those of you interested, the physical distance covered in this movie is around 100 miles, or 160 Km. The average speed observed is therefore around 400 mph / 640 kph.

Modern forms of the name descend from Latin Placentia. The name means a pleasant abode, or as James Boswell reported some of the etymologists of his time to have translated it, comely.
Piacenza is located at a major crossroads at the intersection of Route E35/A1 between Bologna and Milan, and Route E70/A21 between Brescia and Tortona. Piacenza is also at the confluence of the Trebbia, draining the northern Apennine Mountains, and the Po, draining to the east. Piacenza also hosts two universities, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore and Polytechnic University of Milan.

Tour of Castle Fenis, Italy in HD

The impressive Fenis castle is situated in northwestern Italy's Aosta Valley. It was built in a number of steps from the 12th century (Gotofredo of Challant) up to the 15th century. The end of the 15th century started the decline of the castle. In 1895 the castle was bought and started restoration. As a result of somewhat heavy handed restoration (Alfredo D'Andrade) most of the outer works do not follow the original structures.
Fenis castle (Castello di Fenis) has a very medieval look with strong defensive structures.
