Thorp is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Kittitas County, Washington, United States. The population was 240 at the 2010 census. The surrounding area had a population of 695 as of the 2010 census. The town of Thorp is 99.36 miles east of Seattle, Washington, 9.29 miles northwest of Ellensburg, and 15.21 miles southeast of Cle Elum. It is located at the narrow west end of the Kittitas Valley where high elevation forests of the Cascade Range, give way to cattle ranches surrounded by farmlands noted for Timothy hay, alfalfa, vegetables, and fruit production.     Granite Peak Ski Resort is a ski area located in Rib Mountain State Park in the Town of Rib Mountain, Marathon County, Wisconsin, south of Wausau. Granite Peak is the third tallest ski area in the Midwest, after Mount Bohemia in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and Lutsen Mountain on Minnesota's north shore of Lake Superior.
