New Jersey is often associated with a lot of bad things.
The Garden State is accused of having some of the highest taxes in the country. And being too populated.
A land mostly made up of highways, yet traffic is a constant theme here.
The thing is, though, every place has its own ups and downs. And while Jersey has some pretty nasty ones, it is not short of its fair share of plusses.
Like its enviable location – it is possible to work in New York and live in New Jersey; or spend a Saturday in Philadelphia and be back home for dinner.
New Jersey is a beautiful state with plenty of shore towns and beloved diners.
Its rural farmland is a source of fresh local produce that you’ll find displayed on farm stands, albeit mostly in summer.
It is a beautifully diverse state, and a state famous for high-performing public schools, with one of the highest high school graduation rates in the country.

Blizzard 2016 - 22-25 January - Alexandria, VA
From January 22–24, 2016, a major blizzard produced up to 3 ft (91 cm) of snow in parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast United States. Evolving from a shortwave trough, the system consolidated into a defined low-pressure area on January 21 over Texas. Regarding it as a potentially historic blizzard, meteorologists indicated the storm could produce more than 2 ft (61 cm) of snow across a wide swath of the Mid-Atlantic region and could paralyze the eastern third of the nation. Winter weather expert Paul Kocin described the blizzard as kind of a top-10 snowstorm.
On January 20–22, the governors of eleven states and the mayor of Washington, D.C. declared a state of emergency in anticipation of significant snowfall and blizzard conditions. Approximately 103 million people were affected by the storm, with 33 million people under blizzard warnings. More than 13,000 flights were cancelled in relation to the storm, with effects rippling internationally. Thousands of National Guardsmen were placed on standby and states deployed millions of gallons of brine and thousands of tons of road salt to lessen the storm's effect on roadways. A travel ban was instituted for New York City and Newark, New Jersey for January 23–24. The storm was given various unofficial names, including Winter Storm Jonas and Snowzilla.
Seven states observed snowfall in excess of 30 in (76 cm), with accumulations peaking at 66 in (170 cm) on Mount Mitchell, North Carolina. Ice- and snow-covered roads led to hundreds of accidents across the affected region, several of which resulted in deaths and injuries. At least 55 people were killed in storm-related incidents: 12 in Virginia, 9 in Pennsylvania, 6 in New Jersey, 6 in New York, 6 in North Carolina, 4 in South Carolina, 3 in Maryland, 3 in Washington, D.C., 1 in Arkansas, 1 in Delaware, 1 in Georgia, 1 in Kentucky, 1 in Massachusetts, and 1 in Ohio. Total economic losses are estimated between $500 million and $3 billion. The storm ranked as a Category 4, crippling, storm on the Regional Snowfall Index for the Northeast and Southeast regions.

Bridgeport is a census-designated place (CDP) in and the county seat of Mono County, California, United States. It lies at an elevation of 6463 feet (1970 m) in the middle of the Bridgeport Valley. Bridgeport is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 395 and State Route 182. The population was 575 at to the 2010 census.
Formerly known as Big Meadows, Bridgeport is annually visited by thousands of tourists, many of whom come to the area for its well-known trout streams and lakes. Bridgeport Reservoir, Twin Lakes, Virginia Lakes, Green Creek, the East Walker River, the West Walker River and numerous small tributaries and backcountry lakes offer some of the premier Rainbow, Brown and Cutthroat trout fishing to be found anywhere in the world. The Bridgeport Fish Enhancement Program sponsors fishing tournaments twice per season. Bridgeport also occasionally plays host to the annual E Clampus Vitus celebration.
Bridgeport has some of the finest backcountry winter recreation in the world. Over 500 miles of cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, snowmobiling and multiple-use trails are found around the town, including Virginia Lakes Road, the Sweetwater Range, Buckeye, Bodie Hills and Summers Meadows. Huge numbers of backcountry bowls can be used for telemarking and XC Downhilling. Bridgeport is also notable for its proximity to the well-preserved ghost town of Bodie. The Mono County Courthouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
