Canastota is a village located inside the Town of Lenox in Madison County, New York, United States. The population was 4,084 at the 2010 census. The village of Canastota is in the south part of the Town of Lenox. Canastota High School is located in the village.

1. International Boxing Hall of Fame Canastota
The modern International Boxing Hall of Fame , located in Canastota, New York, United States, honors boxers, trainers and other contributors to the sport worldwide. The International Boxing Hall of Fame is one of two recognized international boxing halls of fame, along with the World Boxing Hall of Fame in Riverside, California.The first Boxing Hall of Fame was sponsored by The Ring magazine and was, for decades, located at the offices of Madison Square Garden in New York City. A 1990 initiative by Ed Brophy to honor Canastota's world boxing champions, Carmen Basilio and Basilio's nephew, Billy Backus; the village of Canastota inaugurated the new museum, which showcases boxing's rich history. Free Camping, Boondocking, fishing and wildlife - Hunts Pond, NY

Near Norwich, NY is an old state campground that is now free primitive camping. There are port-a-johns, but not much else except great outdoors fun fishing, boating, hiking, and relaxing. Camping in the previous Hunts Pond State Park area is only allowed at the 12 designated campsites around the perimeter of Hunts Pond. May 1 to September 30, campers must get a free permit from the DEC Sherburne office. Call 607-674-4017 to reserve a site. Sites generally are booked two weeks or more in advance, so it's important to call early for a site.

Stony Pond State Forest

Tak a short walk with us as we pass by Stony Pond in Stony Pond State Forest near Morrisville, NY. This state forest is famous for its 13 miles of nordic ski trails, which can also be hiked in the spring/summer/fall.
