Hürtgenwald is a municipality in the district of Düren in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the Eifel hills, approx. 15 km south-west of Düren. Much of the area is covered by forest . Hürtgenwald is composed of the villages Bergstein, Brandenberg, Gey, Großhau, Horm, Hürtgen, Kleinhau, Raffelsbrand, Schafberg, Simonskall, Strass, Vossenack and Zerkall . 1. Marksburg Castle Braubach
The Marksburg is a castle above the town of Braubach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is one of the principal sites of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortress was used for protection rather than as a residence for royal families. It has a striking example of a bergfried designed as a butter-churn tower. Of the 40 hill castles between Bingen am Rhein and Koblenz the Marksburg was the only one which was never destroyed.

Recorded on location at Ochsenkopf hill southwest of Vossenack in Hürtgen, Germany, September 2009. Ochsenkopf had several new bunkers built during WWII when it was evident that the Allies would attempt an attack on Germany. This bunker is a Regelbau 10 Gruppenunterstand mit Kämpfraum, which means that it was a shelter bunker for normal soldiers who could sleep inside with a room to fight. It was armed with a machine gun. Ochsenkopf proved to be very difficult for the American units to bypass. Due to the strategic position the hill had it effectively blocked any attempt to advance through or around the positions. The 272nd Volksgrenadier among others hold the line at Ochsenkopf and a varity of American units shed blood here during November 1944 to January 1945.

Bunker: Nachrichtenstelle in Accum Vers.1.1

Bei diesen Gebäuden handelt es sich um eine Nachrichtenstelle aus dem 2.Weltkrieg.Diese wurden optisch so gestaltet das sie wie Bauernhäuser aussehen.Obwohl die Dächer aus Beton sind wurden sie, wegen der optischen Täuschung mit Ziegeln belegt damit die gegnerischen Flugzeuge nicht erkennen konnten um was für Gebäude es sich handelt
