Lügde [ˈlʏçtʰə] is a town in the Lippe district of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with c. 9,800 inhabitants . The first written issue of Lügde appears in 784, in the annals of the Frankish Empire, when Charlemagne visited the village during the Saxon Wars. During these wars Charlemagne celebrated his first Christmas in Saxony in Lügde, and the site then became the location of the first church to be built in Saxony. The gothic church was rebuilt in the 12th century and it is still standing today. The church is known as the Kirche St. Kilian.

1. Köterberg Lugde
The Köterberg, at 495.8 m above sea level, is the highest hill in the Lippe Uplands and lies on the state border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony in North Germany. On its northern slopes is the village of Köterberg.

2. Hermannsdenkmal Detmold
The Hermannsdenkmal is a monument located southwest of Detmold in the district of Lippe, in Germany. It stands on the densely forested Grotenburg, sometimes also called the Teutberg or Teut, a hill in the Teutoburger Wald range. The monument is located inside the remains of a circular rampart. The monument was constructed between 1838 and 1875 to commemorate the Cherusci war chief Arminius and his victory over Rome at the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD. When the statue was built, its location was believed to be near the original battle site, although experts now consider it more likely that the battle took place near Kalkriese, about 100 km to the north-west.

This is a music video of our Interrail-Europe-trip. We travelled through these countries in 17 days: Germany -- Netherlands -- Belgium -- France -- Monaco -- Italy -- Greece -- Austria. It´s about 7000 km and the tour was awesome.
