1. Grandfather Mountain Linville
Grandfather Mountain is a mountain, a non-profit attraction, and a North Carolina state park near Linville, North Carolina. At 5,946 feet , it is the highest peak on the eastern escarpment of the Blue Ridge Mountains, one of the major chains of the Appalachian Mountains. The Blue Ridge Parkway passes by the south side of the mountain and also passes over the nearby Grandmother Gap. It is located at the meeting point of Avery, Caldwell , and Watauga counties.

2. Bays Mountain Park & Planetarium Kingsport
Bays Mountain Park is a 3,550 acres nature park and planetarium located on Bays Mountain in Kingsport, Tennessee, featuring cross-cut viewing sections of beaver dams, bee hives, cave systems, and more. The park features a nature center and outdoor native animal displays including a bobcat, raptor center, river otters, a waterfowl aviary, wolf pen and free-roaming white-tail deer. Wolf howling sessions are held regularly, where people are allowed to howl with the wolves, spurring the wolves into howling even more. There is also a herpetarium with snakes and amphibians. The Steadman Heritage Farmstead Museum is a 19th-century period living history farm museum. One popular activity is called the Barge Ride. Uber in an airplane? It's possible TODAY!

Yes, there are Ubers in the air right now!! Thanks to companies like Imagineair, you can easily take an Uber Airplane from one place to another.

Recently, I needed to get from Washington, DC to Southwest Virginia in the USA to visit my Mom. So, let's test out an airborne Uber by taking one of these air taxis from Washington's Dulles International Airport to Tazewell, Va., USA (JFZ). 1.5 hours in a flying taxi (a/k/a a Cirrus SR22) sure beats an eight hour uber ride that would have been required if I'd stayed on the ground.

The video includes unmatched views of the Shenandoah Valley as well as some pretty interesting tidbits about flying air taxis around the East Coast of the United States. It was a pretty memorable flight for me and -- perhaps -- you'll enjoy joining me, too!?

Abingdon, VA: Play Outdoors

Abingdon is surrounded by the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, which forms a massive wilderness playground complete with rivers, lakes and trails. The famous Appalachian Trail is nearby and the Virginia Creeper Trail begins in downtown Abingdon. Bike shops and shuttle services can get you on the trails quickly and easily. No wonder they say it's always play time in Abingdon.
