As of the 2010 census, the city population was 25,557, and in 2016 the estimated population was 27,172.Greenville was named for Thomas J. Green, a significant contributor to the founding of the Texas Republic.

    Sugarloaf Mountain is a mountain located in Carrabassett Valley, Franklin County, Maine. It is the third highest peak in the state, after Mount Katahdin's Baxter and Hamlin peaks. Sugarloaf is flanked to the south by Spaulding Mountain. The northeast and west sides of Sugarloaf drain into the South Branch of the Carrabassett River, which flows into the Kennebec River, and into the Gulf of Maine. The southeast side of Sugarloaf drains into Rapid Stream, then into the West Branch of the Carrabassett River. The Appalachian Trail , a 2,170 mi National Scenic Trail from Georgia to Maine, passes within a mile of the summit, skirting the peak to the west, and the summit is reached by a 0.6 mi side trail.     Little Turtle, or Mihšihkinaahkwa , , was a war chief of the Miami people, and one of the most famous Native American military leaders of his time. Historian Wiley Sword calls him perhaps the most capable Indian leader then in the Old Northwest. Mihšihkinaahkwa led a confederation of native warriors in several major victories against U.S. forces in the 1790s during the Northwest Indian Wars, also called Little Turtle's War. In 1791 the confederation defeated General Arthur St. Clair, who lost 900 men in the most decisive loss by the U.S. Army against Native American forces.
