The island comprises four counties in the U.S. state of New York.   • 1. Lake Montauk Montauk
    Great Patchogue Lake is located just north of Montauk Highway and is bordered by Waverly Avenue to the west and North Ocean Avenue to the east. Patchogue Lake was dammed to provide water power for the textile industry hence its other name: Lace Mill Pond. Today it is home to a diverse warmwater fish community. Abundant perch and crappie provide plentiful fishing opportunities in the spring. Species Present : Largemouth Bass Chain Pickerel Pumpkinseed Black Crappie Yellow Perch Brown Bullhead Species Present :Informal access to the lake is available from East Second Street on the west shore. Hand launched boats are allowed; shoreline access is available but very limited.

    Massapequa Creek is a 4.8 miles long creek that runs through Nassau County, New York, and empties into South Oyster Bay. Most of the length of the creek exists within the Massapequa Preserve, a 432 acres wooded area that extends from the Southern State Parkway in the north to Merrick Road in the south. The creek's headwaters extend north to Farmingdale, draining an area of 6.67 square miles . Like all other rivers on Long Island, Massapequa Creek is fed primarily by groundwater. The creek's three tributaries rise in South Farmingdale, two of which merge in a pond next to Farmingdale High School before crossing under the Southern State Parkway.     The Roslyn Grist Mill is located along Old Northern Boulevard in Roslyn, New York, United States. It was built sometime before the mid-18th century and is one of the few surviving Dutch colonial commercial frame buildings in the U.S. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, it is currently being restored for use as a museum.
