On Saturday April,16,2016 a tornado touched down in Stuarts Draft, Virginia soon after 3:00 P.M. from a storm system that forever changed Stuarts Draft history plowing a path nearly four miles long something almost unheard of ......................................!
The Stuarts Draft Blizzard Of 2016 Part I
The tune on this video is a hip hop tune called If I ruled the world by: Make Music On Saturday January 23 the Blizzard of 2016 unleashed its fury on Stuarts Draft for a total snowfall of between 20-22 inches of powdery snow. Hotshot Train 202 was stranded in Roanoke, Virginia and my friend N/S Engineer Steve Meko (Superman) was called in after digging himself out but when he reported to work no Conductor was available until some time later, The hotshot 202 was scheduled to leave at 12:01 P.M. from Roanoke headed to Greencastle, Pa.

John takes a tour of the cape Charles light houses, the First Landing Monument and First Landing State Park. After that he heads over to the center of Virginia Beach to visit a former World War 2, POW camp named camp Ashby.
John has a personal connection to First Landing. The three ships that made the first landed at a point of land they named “Cape Henry” after crossing the Atlantic from England in 1607 carried his Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great Grand Father. After landing and setting up a cross to commemorate the safe crossing, they traveled up the Chesapeake Bay, made a left turn onto a river they named the “James” and settled at a place they named “James Town”.

Natural (and Unnatural) Virginia
There are, of course, many roadside attractions that dot the landscape of our nation. We would argue, however, that there is a 5-mile stretch of Highway 11 in the Commonwealth of Virginia that sports more of them than anywhere else in the country. In this episode, we explore two of the many sites along Highway 11 that await visitors who find themselves in this part of the Shenandoah Valley. Our favorite thing about this 5-mile stretch of highway is that it features sites that are on opposite extremes - the sublime and the ridiculous.On one extreme, one can enjoy the breath-taking scenery of Virginia's Natural Bridge. As our episode details, the Natural Bridge has inspired at least two American presidents, as well as author Herman Melville, who used this natural wonder as a mechanism to describe his infamous whale, Moby Dick.In contrast, Highway 11 also features the delightful Foamhenge, a detailed replica of the original Stonehenge made entirely out of Styrofoam. Trust us, you have to watch this episode to see just how detailed this replica is.
