    Kate Pace , also known as Kate Pace Lindsay, is a retired Canadian alpine skier.Born in North Bay, Ontario, she won six World Cup medals and three Canadian downhill championships. She finished 1st place in the downhill event at the 1993 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships. She finished 14th at the 1994 Alpine Skiing World Cup. She was a member of the national team at the 1994 Winter Olympics and the 1998 Winter Olympics. She retired in 1998. She is married to Mark Lindsay, a chiropractor. In 1993, she was awarded the Velma Springstead Trophy and the Bobbie Rosenfeld Award. A twelve kilometre pathway, the Kate Pace Way, located in North Bay, Ontario is named in her honour. It is a multi-use trail for walking, jogging, cycling, and inline skating.

    The Iron Horse Trail was once the rail link running between Waterloo and Kitchener. It has been converted to a bicycle and walking trail. It covers a distance of 5.5 kilometres . The rail trail was opened on October 5, 1997 on an abandoned Canadian Pacific Railway line. The two cities combined resources to purchase the property. It is part of the Trans Canada Trail and connects the downtown areas of Kitchener and Waterloo from Victoria Park to Waterloo Park.The Trail crosses some city streets which has led to concern about pedestrian safety, particularly at Victoria St. In January 2018, the City of Kitchener agreed to make some changes in the area that many Trail users take to cross that street. On January 30, 1998, the provincial government amalgamated the Towns of Southampton and Port Elgin, together with Saugeen Township, to form the Town of Port Elgin-Saugeen-Southampton. On December 17, 1998, the Province renamed the entity as the Town of Saugeen Shores.The primary employment categories are agriculture, small business, tourism and work at the Bruce Power nuclear power station.
